The Kingdom of Remnora
Like all days, it was a busy one in Senzovona. As the many millions that called the city home commuted to work or otherwise went about their business, the city took on its seemingly endless cycle of activity, punctuated by the travel to and from the businesses within the city and its extensive suburbs and the daytime rush to slowly fade off to a nightlife. Of course, during the day, it was difficult to navigate the streets of the city due to the congestion along all but the major roads. Aside from that, Senzovona is the probably the truest example of a modern megalopolis and both a vital trade port, major military center, and, though likely argued by most, one of the world's cultural meccas if just from the mix of species and the various cultures that form the Senzovona melting pot.
As a proper show of commitment to the defense of the Kingdom, Queen Coutant had showed up at the Naval Yards as several new warships were to be launched. Among them, and probably most important, was the proper launching of the new Coutant Class carrier. It was a prototype stealth carrier, integrating a few new technologies to be experimented with including the integration of an actual fusion reactor within the ship to determine if it is possible to miniaturize those and put them in other warships. Aside from that, it was just another brick in Remnora's global defensive priorities and capability, alongside its other supercarriers and carrier battle groups. Queen Coutant was nothing short of proud of her nation and its navy, though it was slightly biased by her own service as a naval lieutenant prior to taking the throne.
There was no difficulty, getting Coutant to, and from, the Naval Yards where she presented a short speech, commissioned the ship personally with the nod from the admiralty, and then departed for the palace within Senzovona. The ship was named for her recently deceased mother, a fact that Coutant kept strong publicaly about despite still feeling her mother's loss. To follow up the commissioning, Coutant was making a formal appearance at Duchess Origenes' palace within the city, which was not her main palace by any means. That meeting went well enough, though the Origenes family and the Coutants were always at odds. Where the Coutants were white tigers, the Origenes were lions. That in itself wasn't enough, but there was an internal culture difference. The Origenes, traditionally, embraced the Highland warrior culture of Remnora, while the Coutants embraced the more cosmopolitan Espican culture.
By the end of the day, Coutant was back on her plane to Espica and arrived in time for her dinner and then tried to sleep with several swirling thoughts. Remnora hadn't had much contact with other states, and it was time to change that. She didn't really have any real reasons to celebrate - at least for foreigners, who likely wouldn't celebrate the launching of another Remnoran supercarrier - so she was left with trying to find a reason. After about an hour of thinking and tossing and turning, she decided to just go along with the idea of hosting a ball and gala within Espica to showcase the maritime culture of the city, with nationalistic overtones naturally. Alongside that, at Duchess Origenes' palace she'd host a dinner and a ball for the royals, nobles, and heads of state of the world that wished to visit Espica and actually meet her personally in a public setting.
Under all that, there were other plans she had in mind, but right now she was just wanting to get in the good graces of everyone using a slightly fabricated event just to get people into Remnora and Senzovona, and possibly give them a taste of culture within Remnora is they so chose.
Espica, Diamond District
Remnoran Royal Palace
Set within the walls of Espica's old city, the Diamond District is the name for the cluster of ministerial buildings and other government facilities with the Royal Palace at its heart. It's so named due to the Kingdom's throne and it being made of pure diamond - carved from a single, large and solid diamond taken as a spoil of war in a war long past and forgotten now - as well as the implication of it being a clean and pure place within Remnora. The Palace was home to the royal family - which was just Queen Coutant II in this case, the last member of her family - and was, simply put, vast, and constantly expanded. In the days of old, the palace used to be private rooms, a throne room, and limited amenities. Now it was the largest single home within the Kingdom and, at times, housed entire parts of the Remnoran government.
Living alone, Queen Coutant very nearly just moved back to her family's estate, which was far smaller, just to make sure she wasn't wandering the halls and getting lost. Yet, she had grown up at this palace as well, and there was a connection there back when there were more nobles visiting, and most of her family was still alive. Now only the Remnoran Royal Guard and their typically silent demeanor were the only things really keeping her company. Even the changing of the guard hardly appealed to her anymore. Her days, anymore, consisted of waking up, cleaning up, and then heading to her office where she took breakfast, lunch, and usually her dinner before going to sleep at the end of the day.
Today, within her office, she was writing up her proposal for her gala and ball - the latter of which she can make happen, but the former she needed approval for - and was finding it to be about the most enjoyable thing she had been able to do in recent days. By the end of the day she had both proposals written up, with the gala the longest one, and was already getting to work planning the event at her palace. If anyone visited - and she knew Remnoran nobility and military officers wouldn't pass up a chance to come to her event - it could be quite successful if she played it right. Before finally going to sleep, the Mayor of Espica had called her and approved of the gala and there'd be work put into place to get it to happen.
She decided to just write up the invitation to her ball tomorrow since the commander of the Royal Guard said he'd be able to accommodate such an event, though, as usual, stated his concerns with the event and what it could entail should things go wrong.
